Selkirk FD Board of Fire Commissioners Meeting
126 Maple Avenue
Admin. Building Rear
Selkirk, NY 12158
The members of the Selkirk Fire Department would like to recognize Past Commissioner & Past Chief Joseph Keller on reaching an incredible milestone within the fire service. In 2021 Chief Keller completed his 60th year as an Active Firefighter in the Selkirk Fire Department. His service began in September 1961. In 1969 he was elected Chief of Selkirk Fire Co. 2 in Glenmont. A position he held for five years.
1978 he became Commissioner Keller when he was first elected to the Selkirk Fire District Board Of Fire Commissioners. In 1994 he was elected as Chairman of the Board. A position he would hold until 2009 when he retired from the Board Of Fire Commissioners. He served 41 years as a Fire Commissioner.
Besides his time serving as an officer, as a Commissioner, and as an active firefighter, Joe was one of the original organizers of the annual Selkirk Fire Co. 2 Flea Market. An event he co-chaired for over 40 years.
In 2004 Chief Keller was awarded the Selkirk Fire Co. 2 Firefighter Of The Year Award.
A Board of Fire Commissioners Meeting has been scheduled for Monday, September 19th, 2022 @6pm. Location: 126 Maple Avenue, Admin Building Rear, Selkirk, NY 12158
On this date, 25 years ago, February 5th 1997, the Selkirk Fire Department lost Assistant Chief Kevin C. Seaburg.
Chief Seaburg gave the ultimate sacrifice after fighting a structure fire in Selkirk.
The members of the Selkirk Fire Department remember Chief Seaburg on the 25th Anniversary of his passing.
Continue to rest in peace Chief. We will continue serving our community faithfully just as you did for so many years.
Selkirk FD would like to THANK Commissioner Chuck Wickham for fifteen years of dedicated leadership to the Selkirk Fire District, and the community, as a Fire Commissioner. Commissioner Wickham was elected to the Board Of Fire Commissioners in 2007. In 2010 he was elected as Chairman Of The Board Of Fire Commissioners. A position he held until part way through 2021. He chose not to run for a fourth term. but remains an active firefighter.
In his fifteen years as a Commissioner, and especially the last twelve as Chairman Of The Board, Commissioner Wickham helped bring the Selkirk Fire District forward immensely. His forward thinking helped establish the Town Of Bethlehem Collaboration Task Force, where leaders, from all of the Fire Districts within the Town Of Bethlehem, got together to discuss how the Fire Districts could work better together.
His leadership was also invaluable with the Selkirk Fire District Building Project, in which the vote passed, in the Fall of 2020, to help build a new fire station on Rt. 9w in Selkirk and add a larger engine bay at Station 2 in Glenmont. His determination and leadership helped make this happen.
