On Monday April 30th the latest Albany County Firefighter I class received the certificates of completion at a special graduation ceremony in Elsmere.  Selkirk FD had three members completing the class and are now certified interior firefighters.  The newest Selkirk FD FF's are:

2012 Flea Market Applications ONLINE

The 2012 Flea Markets will be held on Saturday May 26th and Saturday July 28th.  Both events will be held on the grounds of the Selkirk Fire Co. 2 Firehouse, 301 Glenmont Rd.  Glenmont.  For the first time applications are available ONLINE via this website.  They are located under the Legal Notices section.  All of the information you need is in the applications.


     

 

Selkirk FD Puts In New Docks

Sunday, March 25, 2012  On Sunday March 25th, members of SFD put in a new dock system at the Henry Hudson Park.  These docks will be the new home of SFD's Rescue 4 boat.  The boat has been docked in Coeymans for the last few years, but with help from the Town of Bethlehem, SFD was given permission to use a parcel of land at the park and bring the boat back up into SFD's District.


     

 

Selkirk FD Tackles Chimney Fire

Friday, February 3, 2012  At around 8:30AM, Selkirk FD was dispatched to a reported chimney fire at a house on South St., in South Bethlehem.  Crews arrived in short time and were able to contain the fire using a couple of fire extinguishers.  No one was hurt.


   
 

Selkirk FD Responds To Structure Fire

Wednesday, December 21, 2011  A little before 2:00PM, on Wednesday December 21st, Selkirk FD responded to a structure fire call at 83 Fairlawn Dr..  Upon arriving, first units reported that the garage-area was fully engulfed in flames and the fire was spreading to other parts of the house.  An immediate fire attack began and the fire was contained.  The Delmar, Elsmere, and Slingerlands Fire Departments also responded and assisted with the call.  No one was home at the time the fire broke out.

Selkirk FD Reponds To MVA

Monday, October 17, 2011  On Monday October 17th Selkirk FD responded to a two car accident on Rt. 9W, just south of Wemple Rd..  There were some minor injuries with those involved.

9/11 Memorial Service

On Sunday 9/11 the Selkirk Fire Department hosted a public 9/11 Memorial Service to remember the 343 Fire and EMS Workers that lost their lives 10 years ago.  The service was attended by other town fire departments as well as the Ballston Spa Fire Department.

All 343 names of the those that lost their lives were read by anyone who wanted to participate.  The service started at 8:46AM, the moment the first plane hit the first tower of the World Trade Center.  Thank you to all that came and attended the service.

     

 

Selkirk FD Responds to Hurricane IRENE Emergencies

Selkirk FD responded to numerous calls on Sunday August 28th due to Hurricane Irene.  On Tuesday August 30th Selkirk FD was still responding to calls to assist in pumping out houses.  As of Tuesday August 30th Selkirk FD has responded to over 60 calls since Sunday morning.  Other calls, besides pump-outs, dealt with wires being down, trees down on houses, rescuing people trapped,  and SFD also assisted a neighboring fire department with a fully involved structure fire on Monday.  The pictures below are of the Onesquethaw Creek, near Willowbrook Ave. and South Albany Rd. in South Bethlehem.  The pictures were taken one day apart.
