Selkirk FD responded to numerous calls on Sunday August 28th due to Hurricane Irene. On Tuesday August 30th Selkirk FD was still responding to calls to assist in pumping out houses. As of Tuesday August 30th Selkirk FD has responded to over 60 calls since Sunday morning. Other calls, besides pump-outs, dealt with wires being down, trees down on houses, rescuing people trapped, and SFD also assisted a neighboring fire department with a fully involved structure fire on Monday.
