On Wednesday, May 22nd, Selkirk FD responded to a fire alarm activation at KT's Barnside Eatery in Selkirk.  Upon arriving the first officers did not see much smoke, but after getting into the walls, fire was found, and quickly extinguished.  Elsmere FD and Coeymans FD assisted on scene.  A good save and job done by all.

Recently some Selkirk FD members participated in a Flashover Training exercise at the Kevin M. Shea Training Facility in Delmar.  They entered into a structure where a fire was lit and they could watch fire behavior in action.  It got a little hot, but was a great learning experience.

 On Tuesday April 23rd, Selkirk Fire Chief Bill Asprion received a 2013 Albany County Volunteer - Honorable Mention Award, from County Executive Dan McCoy, for his service to his community, and his leadership during his time spent at Long Beach, LI, helping out after Superstorm Sandy.  Congratulations Chief Asprion.

On Sunday April 14h members of SFD put in the boat dock at the Henry Hudson Park.  The dock will house Rescue 4 for another season.  Be safe on the water.

Sunday, March 10, 2013  On March 10th, at around 7:30AM, Selkirk FD responded to a two car MVA on Rt. 9W, near the intersection of Rt. 9W and Feura Bush Rd..  To people were shaken up, no major injuries..

Saturday, February 23, 2013  On February 23rd, at around 3:30AM, the Selkirk Fire Department responded to a reported accident call on Rt. 9W, near the Stewarts shop in Selkirk.  Upon arrival crews found a van had collided with a tree.  The passengers were extricated out and transported to the hospital.

Wednesday, February 20, 2013  On February 20th, at around 10:15PM, the Selkirk Fire Department was toned out for a structure fire on Glenmont Rd., seen from a home in the Quail Hollow neighborhood.  First crews on scene found the home engulfed in flames and heavy smoke.  Crews starting attacking the fire immediately  Search teams proceeded inside to look for anyone that might have been home at the time.  One person was found and transported to the hospital.

Sunday, February 17, 2013  On February 17th, at around 2:30PM, the Selkirk Fire Department was toned out for structure fire on Old Quarry Rd., near Rarick Rd., in South Bethlehem.  First crews on the scene reported heavy amount of smoke and flames coming from the building.  The heavy winds and cold weather made fighting the fire difficult.  No one was home at the time.  No one was hurt.
