On Monday evening, March 3rd, the Selkirk Department honored it's recipients of the Firefighter of the Year award, at the town-wide ceremony, hosted by Nathaniel Adams Blanchard Post in Delmar. Receiving the award this year was 2nd Assistant Chief Steve Hummel, and Firefighter Barry Morehouse.
On February 13th, at 12:28PM, Selkirk FD responded to a reported accident call, on Bridge Street, in South Bethlehem, for a tractor trailer roll-over, with the driver trapped. The tractor trailer was leaking milk. The driver was able to get out with minor injuries.

On February 13th, at 7:38AM, Selkirk FD responded to a MVA call, on Route 9W, near Capital Cities VW, for a two-car accident, with one patient, with a head injury. Extrication was completed, and the patient was transported to the hospital via the Town of Bethlehem Ambulance services.

Just before Thanksgiving Selkirk FD received a $6000 donation from PSEG Power NY's Bethlehem Energy Center. With the donation Selkirk FD purchased three Honda Portable Generator/Lights to help aid the department with nighttime calls. Selkirk FD thanks PSEG for their assistance in purchasing the generator lights.
On Thursday December 5th, the membership of the Selkirk Fire Department elected the 2014 Line Officers of the Department, and also the Civil Officers for each Company. The list of 2014 officers are listed under the "Officers" link. They will start their term of office 1/1/14. Thank You to those that served as officers this past year.
On Saturday November 16th, Selkirk FD assisted Santa in delivering over 30,000 Christmas Cards to the Glenmont Post Office. Supporters of the "Christmas Cards For Our Troops" program met Selkirk FD at the Post Office and one by one the boxes were shipped out, on their way to our troops.
On Monday evening, October 21st, Selkirk took official delivery of its new Sutphen SP70 Aerial Platform, which will be the new Truck 40. It will be in service within a few weeks after equipment is mounted and training is completed. Selkirk FD is very excited that this new piece of apparatus has arrived and look forward to having the new T40 serve the community.
On Tuesday November 15th, Selkirk FD, for the 14th straight year, visited the Glenmont Elementary School for the annual Fire Prevention program. Over 300 children learned important lessons on kitchen fire safety, home escape plans, and were reminded what to do if their clothes catch on fire, STOP, DROP, and ROLL.

On Sunday September 29th, five Selkirk FD members participated in the annual Tunnel To Towers Run, in NYC, to support the FF Stephen Siller Tunnel To Towers Foundation. On 9/11, FF Siller was heading home, after completing his shift with the FDNY, when he heard about the first plane hitting the WTC. He immediately started heading back to help out. When he reached the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, it was already closed to traffic. So with 60lbs of gear, he walked thru the tunnel, back towards NYC. to help at the WTC site. FF Siller tragically lost his life that day, along with 342 other brother and sister FF's.

On September 11th, Selkirk FD hosted a Memorial Service to remember the 343 firefighters who died on 9/11 at the World Trade Center site. All 343 names were read aloud, with members from the public also participating. Brother and Sister Firefighters from the Elsmere FD, Delmar FD, and Slingerlands FD also participated.
